Login/Access Problems?

Please see below for solutions to common problems:

If you do email the webmaster please check that your email program is configured to accept emails from emergenceplus.org.uk, otherwise any reply we send might end up in your spam folder!

Have you activated your account?

As part of the registration process you are sent an automatically generated email with subject "Account Details for ... at Emergence". This email contains a link to activate your account along with your username and password. When you click the link you will be taken to the Emergence website and if all is well you will see a message telling you that your account has been activated.

If you have received a Welcome email from Emergence but have not received an activation email to your knowledge please check your junk/spam folder to see if it is there. If there is still no sign of it please send your name and the email address you registered with to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so we can look into it.

The website displayed "Invalid Activation Link!" when I tried to activate my account

Activating your account is a one-time operation. You will see this message if you have already activated your account and try to do so again. If this is the case go to the Home page and you should be able to log in using the username and password in your activation email.

If this happens the first time you try to activate your account please forward your activation email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so we can look into it.

The website displayed "Login Denied!" when I tried to log in

This message is displayed when the website recognises your username and password but thinks your account has not been activated. Please see above under "Have You Activated Your Account?"

The website displayed "Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet" when I tried to log in

If you have activated your account successfully check carefully that the username and password you are typing are identical to those shown on your activation email. The password is case-sensitive. If you still have problems you can use the "Forgot your Username" link to have your username emailed to you and the "Forgot your Password" link to set a new password.

If you click the "Forgot your Password" link you will be emailed a verification token which you should cut and paste from the email into the "Confirm your account" screen. Enter your username, click "submit" and you will be taken to the "Reset your password" screen to enter a new password. If you still have problems please send your name and the email address you registered with to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. I can log in but I cannot access the members area - I just see some keys and a logout button

This issue seems to be browser-related and has been reported on rare occasions. You can try logging out of the website if logged in, clearing your browsing history, and trying again. Please be aware that doing this may also clear any stored login details you have for other websites. If you do not want to do this it is worth trying another type of browser if you have one available.

The Emergence website is tested on a wide range of browsers and many hours have been spent trying to reproduce this issue. If you do experience it please send details of your browser and browser version (usually under Help) to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Please also let us know if clearing your browsing history or using an alternative browser solved the issue.

I cannot log in to the forums

If you go to the forums without first logging into the Emergence website you will be presented with the forums login screen. You should be able to log in using your Emergence username and password. If your login is rejected go to the Emergence website homepage and log in there. This will also log you into the forums. On subsequent visits you will be able to log into the forums without logging into the Emergence website first.
