Recent research for the Department of Health demonstrated “beyond reasonable doubt” that arts participation improved levels of empowerment among service users (Secker, J et al 2007).

He discovered a phenomenon that he described as “creative genius” which was a prominent and extraordinary character trait in some of these patients.

There will be opportunities to develop artistic and creative skills during participative workshops held throughout the UK as part of regional programmes.

These will include include:

  • Visual art workshops in York
  • Photography workshops in London

Others will follow.

Formal Learning

Emergence will be organising career development seminars. Watch this space!

 

Arts & Creativity - evidence base
